Day 6, Saturday February 6th 2021 – Cleaning, sushi and some civil unrest

Back home we have every week a cleaning day and both of us have their own responsibility areas. All is done in true German efficiency. Seems clear this has been a place for students and temporary guests as there was quite lot of to clean, but we know what we are doing and so managed nicely with Gamze taking the helm of the project. She is after all our cleaning master and the topic is way more important to her than to lazy old me. After cleaning we were really hungry and headed out to find new places to get food from. Gamze had been searching online and found already some interesting places. She had picked for us a Sushi place, even though she does not even like Sushi. Or should I say did not like Sushi as Sushi&Spice was so good with really inviting menu, we will for sure return to test other things later.

 Waiting for our lunch

The sushi was really good, in a kinda fusion sushi way that even Gamze praised it several times while eating and long time afterward. The sad thing again is that all food in takeaway and we do not get to enjoy the food inside a restaurant. Portions for sure look boring packed in lot of plastic. In general the usage of lot of plastic seems common.

Takeaway does not look so cool, even if the taste is great

Due to the weekend curfew the streets were quite empty and the usual traffic jams were thing of the past. We enjoyed the peaceful streets and warm weather. It is easy to imagine when the weather gets warmer, this is a super nice place to hang out.

Updates to the University situation were also received as we returned home. As the University employees were not cooperating with the Government named boss man he has now announced the creation of totally new faculty with new employees loyal to the government. This Faculty will be used to start the work even though for the first semester they won’t be having any students most likely. What we are hearing is that people are really angry about this development and this will lead to even more demonstrations. The good thing about the demonstrations is that the university and its student are highly respected and due to that treated better than average citizens by the police. This does not mean the stay in the jail is a pleasant one though. What we hear there were some 50 people packed to a small room for long time. Not much care for Corona there I guess. At around 21:00 the clinging at the streets started again. It is pretty interesting.
